What To Eat In Kenmare

Five delicious dishes from the Kingdom county.

SHARE

There are so many great places to eat in Kenmare right now that you'll be completely spoiled for choice when you visit.

Kenmare is one of our favourite summertime destinations with the West. Usually jam-packed with tourists and natives alike, Kenmare is a gorgeously colourful town with heaps of things to do, as well as great places to dine. If you want to know what to eat in Kenmare on your next trip to the West, we've got you covered.

1. Pancakes

Mick & Jimmy's, Henry Street

Mick & Jimmy's is a buzzy little restaurant on Henry Street in Kenmare. Owned by, you guessed it, brothers Mick and Jimmy, the restaurant offers up some seriously tasty food. While you can enjoy lunch and dinner in this spot, we're particularly obsessed with their breakfast offerings that include amazing pancakes like this lemon and raspberry variety. If you don't fancy lemon, there are also Nutella pancakes, bacon and maple syrup, and more options available.

2. Skeaghanore Duck Breast, Tenderstem Broccoli, Black Butter

No.35 Restaurant, Main Street

Serving up a variety of local produce, No.35 Restaurant is always a great spot to pop into if you're in Kenmare. This Skeaghanore duck dish is new to the menu, but we're already obsessed with it. Featuring Ballymakenny broccoli, gorgeously black butter, carrots and fennel, this dish is an amazing combination of Irish ingredients.

3. Pastries

Maison Gourmet, Henry Street

This little café is one of Kenmare's hidden gems. The owners are a married couple obsessed with French baking and patisserie which led them to open this gorgeous spot. We haven't recommended any particular pastry, as once you get inside the doors and see these fabulous homemade creations, you'll want to try them all, which is something we would highly recommend you do!

4. Fresh Oysters

Packie's Food & Wine, Henry Street

Known for its fresh seafood, Packie's Food & Wine is one of Kenmare's most popular restaurants. These plump oysters were caught locally resulting in an unbelievably fresh flavour and texture. If you ask locals about what to ear in Kenmare, they will more than likely tell you to head to Packie's and it's not hard to see why.

5. Coolea Royal Egg Yolk, Asparagus, Truffle

The Falls Restaurant at Sheen Falls Lodge, Kenmare

A little outside the town of Kenmare, Sheen Falls Lodge is a luxurious five-star hotel that can be found amidst the wild Kerry countryside. The Falls Restaurant changes its menu regularly to keep up with what's in season, but this summery dish looks absolutely delicious. If you get down soon, they might still have it on the menu, but if not, you won't be short of delicious options.
