It’s the start of a brand new week which means it’s time to try some new recipes.

Sometimes you just have a craving for a particular dish, which is what this list is all about. The five dishes below are exactly what the F&W staff want to eat this week, so we thought we’d share them with you. If you haven’t written out your meal plan for the week yet, then you’re in luck because you’ll definitely want to add these five dishes to it straight away.

Beetroot Macarons

Eunice Power’s macaron recipes are the perfect combination of seasonal and glam. Macarons can be quite tricky to master, but this recipe is a great way to learn the basic technique. We think these savoury bites would be a great addition to an afternoon tea.

Mum’s Apple Tart with Cullahill Pastry

This is the ultimate apple tart recipe. Kindly given to us by the O’Connell’s of Cullahill, this recipe is made to the exact recipe that their mum used to make them as a child. The pastry is different from regular shortcrust pastry as it has quite a scone-like texture.

Seville Orange Tart

Another tart, this dish is very light and zingy. The filling requires Seville orange juice, but we think it would be delicious with blood orange too.

Calcutta 'Scorched & Spicy' Hake

If you’re looking for a new way to cook fish, then you need to try this recipe from Arun Kapil. The spice blend used on the hake is so fragrant that you’ll want to use in all of you’re cooking, but we especially like it with other white fish, like cod.

Traditional Shepherd’s Pie

Is there anything more comforting than shepherd’s pie? The weather has turned again and it’s absolutely baltic outside again so we’re craving something warming and delicious. This recipe from JB Dublois is ideal to whip up to fight off the chill.
