We’re nearly halfway through January and there’s still so much happening around the country!

It’s a bit cold outside and our wallets are considerably lighter than they were a few weeks ago (hurry up payday!), so we’re really excited about what’s happening this week – we think we deserve a little boost.

Seafood Masterclasses at Cliff Townhouse, St. Stephen’s Green, Dublin

Saturday, January 19th

Cliff Townhouse at St. Stephen’s Green is well known for its stellar seafood, so it’s great to see that they’ve relaunched their seafood masterclasses. As we’ve said before, we have great fish here in Ireland and we’d love to see more people cook it at home, so this is an ideal way to learn how to introduce more seafood into your diet.

Head Chef Sean Smith will be hosting the classes, where guests will be shown how to choose the best fish plus ways to easily prepare it at home. Tickets are €35 per person and include a glass of wine and some nibbles, as well as the masterclass, so book now by emailing [email protected] If you can’t make this Saturday’s session, the class will be repeated on February 23rd and March 23rd, so pencil the dates into your diary!

The Bar for When You’re Off the Beers, South Anne Street, Dublin

Friday 18th- Sunday 20th January

If you’re doing Dry January, you know that heading to the pub can sometimes be a total no-go. However, the “Bar for When You’re Off the Beers” is here to help you get through the month with all of the usual banter that you’d normally associate with a few pints.

From the brewer’s of Guinness, the bar is aiming to put the craic back into the new year, with a host of free events taking place throughout the weekend. Comedians Joanne McNally and Marcus O’Laoire will be hosting comedy and music events of Friday and Saturday, then there will be a workout session with Nathalie Lennon on Sunday morning, followed by an alternative Date Night hosted by drag queen Davina Devine. If none of that takes your fancy, then there will also be non-alcoholic beer tasting sessions, free beer snacks and a cinema screen at the event, so you’re sure to find something to keep you occupied!

Copia Green’s Healthy Hour, Castleroy, Limerick

This one isn’t strictly a once-off event, but we’re super excited to hear about Copia Green’s Healthy Hour. The eatery in Castleroy aims to provide seasonal, sustainable and healthy food to every customer that walks through the doors and this January they’re offering a 30% discount on selected breakfast dishes from 7.30am-8.30am.

The aim of Healthy Hour is to help people commit to a positive change for the new year. By offering the discount on breakfast dishes, juices and smoothies, Copia Green is hoping everyone will start 2019 on the right foot. For more info or to see the Copia Green menu, click here.
