We’re finally coming to the end of January, which means most people have probably been paid by now (thankfully), so it's the perfect time to treat yourself!

Lil Portie reopens this Friday, February 1st

Lil Portie was one of the best eateries we tried last year (see our interview with Nick Reynolds here) so we’re very excited to see that it will reopen this week. Promising a new menu full of fresh ideas alongside old favourites, Lil Portie looks set to up its game for 2019.

Burger Fest returns this week

January 28th-February 3rd, 2019

The second annual Burger Fest kicks off today and it looks like it’s going to be seriously tasty! The festival, which is held in association with Ballymaloe Foods, will take place all around the country so wherever you are, there will be a burger for you to sample. Some of the events taking place throughout the festival include burger bingo in Roscommon where you can sample different burgers each day at Drumanilra Farm Kitchen and two-for-one burgers from The Hatch food truck in Dundrum, Kilkeel and Newcastle. The French Connection Tasting Experience with Hennessy Cognac

Thursday, January 31st, J.J. Coppingers, Midleton, Cork 19.00-22.30

This unique event will involve an intimate cognac tasting and immersive art experience with Cork’s stained glass artist, Peter Martin. A Hennessy masterclass will take place, where guests can sample the full cognac range and there will be Hennessy and ginger cocktails available for sampling. Martin has designed a piece to reflect the architecture of the J.J. Coppinger building, so that will be on display on the night and the artist will discuss his creative process and the piece’s background. Get tickets on Eventbrite now.

Dumpling Day at Asia Market

Friday, February 1st, 11.00-18.00

This free event will take place in Asia Market on Friday to kick off the Chinese New Year. Dumplings from Japan, Korea, China and more will be on display instore for customers to taste, as well as dumpling-making classes for curious chefs to take part in. If you don’t fancy making your own dumplings, Asia Market’s range of dumplings will be available for customers to purchase and enjoy. Teeling Whiskey Tasting Dinner at The Conrad, Dublin

Thursday 31st January, 19.00-22.00

This whiskey event at Conrad Dublin is ideal for those looking to infuse their food with a bit of their favourite drink. Gabriela Gómez Quintana, head chef at The Conrad, has created a five-course whiskey-themed dinner for guests to enjoy alongside bespoke Teeling cocktails, including whiskey cured wild Irish salmon, beef and shitake mushroom consommé and poached pears with Teeling Revival V.
