Known for their stellar black and white pudding, Meere's is a family-run business based in Clare. Run by husband and wife team Orlaigh and Barry, the brand has been growing from strength to strength in recent years and the products can now be found in stores all over the country.
Meere's was initially started by Orlaigh's father, Paddy, who returned home to Clare from England to help his brother with his new butchers. From there, Paddy began to adapt his mother's sausage recipe in order to produce sausages that can now be found in supermarkets all over Ireland.
When Orlaigh grew up, she followed in her father's footsteps by living in England, where she met Barry, but ultimately returning home to help grow the business. It is thanks to Orlaigh Meere's black and white pudding is available on-shelves, as she realised that developing her Granny's pudding recipes could be a winner. Due to the success of the pudding, Barry developed the brand's sausage rolls, which are available in a variety of flavours.
The quality of Meere's produce has been recognised far and wide, with the company becoming part of the SuperValu Producers Academy, where they won various national awards. In 2017, Meere's was named Irish Quality Food Awards Small Producer of the Year, winning a year-long mentorship with Dunne’s stores. This month, they released their first black and white Irish puddings for Dunne’s Simply Better range. The company also took home a Gold-Q award to Clare this year for their Chorizo and Smoked Paprika Sausage Rolls.
