Forget about cooling down with a regular ol' shake: we're obsessing over something a bit boozier.

What exactly? Well, the team at The BurgerStory at Spanish Arch in Galway city has introduced a new Irish Cream Hard Shake to its milkshakes with alcohol range to mark the diner-style restaurant’s first birthday this summer.

The new ‘hard shake’ combines Irish cream liqueur with ice cream, milk and a choice of chocolate pieces, real strawberries, or real vanilla. The complementary flavours and textures add up to deliver The BurgerStory’s most luscious hard shake yet in the range which also includes a Bourbon Hard Shake and Buckfast Hard Shake.

Tara Haugh, who co-owns The BurgerStory with her husband Enda Hoolmaa, said, “Our shakes have only two base ingredients; ice cream and milk. We don't use flavoured syrups, just delicious, creamy ice cream with real vanilla, chocolate pieces and strawberries. To celebrate our first birthday, we decided to add Irish cream to our hard shakes' options. We are so pleased with the results. The Irish cream and chocolate combination in particular is a match made in heaven!”

In addition to the new Irish Cream version, the hard shakes at The BurgerStory come in Buckfast and Bourbon varieties. They cost €7.50 each, while r egular shakes come in chocolate, strawberry, or vanilla and they cost €5.00 each.

The BurgerStory is located at 1 Quay Lane, Spanish Arch, Galway City. It is open daily from 12 noon until 10pm.
