We take a sneak peek inside Dublin's newest bar
Located on 43 Aungier St in a protected structure of architectural significance, which has been vacant for over 20 years, the building has been carefully restored as a neighbourhood bar serving pints, cocktails and a menu of traditional Irish fare with a modern Mediterranean twist.
The ground floor hosts a Victorian style pub, complete with a large and light filled snug to the front, a long, copper-topped antique bar, and a terrace area to the rear. The antique back bar, which is over 100 years old, will be open from noon seven days a week. And best of all... it is serving toasties (get our ultimate toastie recipe here).
The three floors present a more luxurious decor, featuring velvet banquette seating and gorgeous views up Aungier St through big sash windows. These floors will be open from 5pm every day for dinner and/or drinks. Head chef Stephen Ryan will be serving up seasonal dishes such as Kerry Hill Lamb Shoulder with Sprouting Broccoli, Curried Crab with Cucumber and Apple, and Baked Brie with Hazelnut and Grape Relish.
Interestingly, the cocktail menu, is focusing on a 'closed-loop' concept, meaning less waste. We'll report back on this soon!
