London based food stylist and writer Megan Davies has launched her new book which is aimed at the eco-minded home cook.
As well as being full of tasty, easy recipes Home Bird is packed with tips and info on how to reduce food waste, save money and make ingredients go further.
It’s all about seasonal, wholesome recipes that are as good for the environment as they are for your wallet — something we’re all interested in these days. There are tricks for turning leftovers into a whole new meal, multi-tasting brunch ideas, suppers for sharing and lots of delicious desserts.
Megan has shared two recipes that you can try at home and we also have three copies of Home Bird to give away — see below.
Provence salmon parcels
"Here, I’ve taken the flavours of bouillabaisse, simplified them and popped into parcels. One pan, one baking dish, one small bowl and you’re good to go. The flavours remind me of cooking school, enjoyed now without the stress and a glass of chilled white." Get the recipe here.
Rhubarb and apple crumble
"We weren’t much of a dessert household growing up (more of a ‘have an apple if you’re still hungry’ vibe), however, when we did have pudding at the weekend, my Ma would often do a crumble, which we all adored. She would use cornflakes in the crumble mix to bulk out the topping, so this is a similar version using up almost- empty packets of nuts and cereals within the crumble mix. It gives extra flavour and a satisfying crunch." Get the recipe here.
