Mother's Day is fast approaching and if you need a way to treat your mum to something special this year, The Westbury Hotel has launched a brand new afternoon tea package.
For the second year in a row, Mother's Day will fall during a country-wide lockdown with restaurants, bars and hotels still shut. If, like us, your Mother's Day gifts usually revolve around a meal at your favourite restaurant, you might be at a loss for what to get the special woman in your life this year. Luckily, The Westbury Hotel in Dublin has launched a new afternoon tea package that you can enjoy at home this Mother's Day.
Even though you can't visit the stunning hotel itself, The Westbury's afternoon tea experience includes everything you need to replicate it from the comfort of your own home. Starting at €120 for two, the package includes the hotel's signature teacups and saucers, plus the exclusive Westbury tea blend, alongside a selection of buttermilk scones with clotted cream and jam, plus eight specially-curated Mother's Day desserts.
The best part about afternoon tea is always the desserts and these brand new offerings are sure to help your mum enjoy the day at home. Some of the delicious new desserts, straight from the team at The Westbury, include an elderflower and lemon savarin with fresh raspberries, which is a small ring-shaped cake soaked in a light elderflower and lemon syrup, topped with a soft lemon diplomat cream, lemon curd and raspberries tossed in white wine; a sour cherry, almond and mascarpone tart – a crisp fluted almond sable tart shell filled with a soft mascarpone cheesecake cream topped with sour cherry compote and toasted flaked almonds; a tiramisu choux bun made with chocolate choux au craquelin half-filled with marsala and mocha flavoured custard, and topped with mascarpone and cocoa cream; and a pineapple and coconut cake – a light financier sponge cake made with pineapple, coconut and almonds, glazed with pineapple jelly and decorated with fresh pineapple, chantilly cream, pineapple gel and coconut crisps.
If you want to add a little something extra to this already stunning meal, there are optional extras available to order with your afternoon tea from The Westbury for an additional cost, including a beautifully presented seasonal bouquet of white flowers (€50), a bottle of Perrier-Jouët Grand Brut champagne alongside two Belle-Époque glasses (€70), a Westbury signature bergamot candle (€40), or a voucher to spend anywhere in The Westbury, including WILDE, Balfes and The Sidecar.
The Westbury’s Sweet Afternoon Tea at Home Mother’s Day experience costs €120 for two people. Delivery via personal chauffeur is available for an additional €10 within 10km of the hotel or you can opt for click and collect instead. Orders must be placed by Thursday, March 11th for collection or delivery on March 13th or 14th. To place your order, click here.
