The Terrace at Conrad Dublin is the new outdoor space to know about

The all-rounded offering replaces what was Alfie Byrne’s Bar.

Conrad Dublin’s exciting new food and drinks space concept has taken shape quietly during lockdown and is now open to provide a hybrid space for hungry and thirsty customers alike.

Lockdown has seen lots of the restaurants and pubs we know and love get a fresh lick of paint and expand their offering to allow outdoor dining where possible. But few have gone to the lengths that Conrad Dublin has to take our current circumstances into account with its new food and drinks area, The Terrace.

There are two elements to the new space. The Terrace Pantry & Café serves organic and single-origin coffee, the most amazing home bakes and pastries made by the talented team in Conrad's kitchen, as well as poke bowls and artisan sandwiches.

It also stocks organic vegetables, a selection of the best Irish cheeses, charcuterie, olive oils, baking ingredients and an unusual array of hard to find Japanese and Asian products, lending a new definition to the term 'one-stop-shop'. 

The second element is The Terrace Kitchen and Social House, which is open seven days a week for breakfast/brunch, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner. The vibe is chilled, with stripped-back service, cool tunes by secret DJs and soft leather chairs. Distinct areas for dining and enjoying a drink create a unique space with lots of options and cubby holes to hide away in.

Outside on the terrace, meanwhile, is somewhere to enjoy a great cocktail or a glass of Champagne, while taking in the view of the piazza gardens. If you were to opt for the latter, it would be a glass of Henriot, the only remaining independent family-run house in Champagne and a partner of the Conrad for some years now. Henriot is also responsible for the elegant white branded umbrellas dotted around the heated terrace  – an essential in Ireland regardless of the season. 

In terms of the menu, think casual dining that's simple and uncomplicated. For chef Gary Rogers, it's important to highlight the best of seasonal Irish ingredients, many of which are available for sale in the pantry next door. His menu highlights include the fritto misto and a fresh take on the traditional club sandwich, served on open homemade sourdough with buttermilk chicken

While Conrad Dublin is currently operating under strict Covid-19 policies, the team at The Terrace did let us know that they are working on other exciting concepts, which are to be unveiled later in the year. So it's very much a case of watch this space!
