Full of inspiring recipes, A Recipe for Success is a new cookbook launched to raise much-needed funds for Pieta House.
Having to live through a global pandemic has been — let's face it — pretty rough. Ireland, along with the rest of the world, went into a lockdown over a year ago with no end in sight. Now over 12 months later, we're back where we first started. There’s a laundry list of worries that run through our heads every day: Is that tickle in my throat coronavirus? What if my loved ones get COVID-19? Am I going to get laid off? You get the point.
Many people, whether they experienced mental health problems prior to the pandemic or not, are dealing with increased levels of stress, anxiety and depression as a result of life right now. In a huge collective effort to raise awareness of the problem and let people know that there is help in the form of the incredible staff of Pieta House, some of the country's top chefs have come together to create a new cookbook intended to raise much-needed funds for the organisation.
Like many charities, Pieta House's fundraising efforts have been hit hard by Covid-19 restrictions. The mental health charity has had to cut staff's pay and offer redundancies, even though it is noting an increase in demand for the service they provide.
With usual fundraising methods off the cards as a result of the pandemic, avid baker, David Farrell, was inspired to create a cookbook in aid of Pieta House. Packed full of recipes, the cookbook aptly titled 'A Recipe for Success' includes submissions from people across a wide variety of different backgrounds. The aim is to prove that you don't need to be a seasoned pro or star baker to create amazing food, the chosen recipes cater to even the most amateur of chefs with easy to follow instructions to make sure you can't go wrong. Also in the book, recipes from some of the country's top chefs with both Neven Maguire and Clodagh McKenna lending their expertise to the project too.
Priced at €21.40 for paperback or €3 for Kindle, all profits from the sale of the cookbook will go to helping Pieta House who works to provide free counselling to those with suicidal ideation, those engaging in self-harm and those bereaved by suicide. Available to buy on Amazon, you can pick one up here.
