Treat your mum to the ultimate cook-a-long with Erica Drum this mother's day

Looking for something fun to do this mother's day?

While many of us can’t be with our mums, nans or honorary mothers in person and celebrate in the usual ways, Erica Drum has teamed up with Weekl.ie to launch a live cook-along and meal kit in order to make this lockdown Mother’s Day special.

It’s Mother’s Day on Sunday, March 14, so you may be wondering how you can celebrate amid ongoing Covid lockdown restrictions. In 'normal' times, you may have treated your mum to afternoon tea at a five-star hotel, whisked her away for some R&R at a luxurious spa or you would have brought her to her favourite restaurant for a lavish three-course meal.

This year, however, things are a little more complicated. Restaurants, pubs and non-essential shops will still be shut, indoor socialising will still be banned and people will still be advised to 'stay at home' in all but exceptional circumstances. However, whether we can see our mums in person or not, Mother’s Day 2021 is a chance to celebrate everything she does for us and it thanks to Erica Drum and the team behind Weekl.ie, there's one sure-fire way to make her feel extra-special, no matter what the state of the world might be.

Knowing that you may not be within 5k of your mum this mother's day, grocery delivery service, Weekl.ie have teamed up with professional chef, Erica Drum to connect mums, nans, aunts, honorary mothers with their sons and daughters this mother's day with the shared fun of a cook-a-long. Erica has come up with the ultimate menu for a Mother's Day lunch: Slow cooked Irish lamb shanks with tomatoes, olives and Ballymakenny potatoes. There's also additional sides of Mediterranean-style roast vegetables and flatbread with wild garlic and mint dip. All the ingredients have been sourced by Weekl.ie from some great Irish supplies such as McLoughlin’s Craft Butchers, Mossfield Organic Farm, Ballymakenny Farm, Sarah&Olive...plus, they've even foraged their own wild garlic especially for this meal kit.

Priced at €155, The Weekl.ie X Erica Drum Mother's Day Gift Box is designed as a shared experience so that both you and your mum can enjoy - no matter how far apart you are. Each box includes all the ingredients you need to make Erica's delicious Mother's Day lunch along with a recipe card, a ticket to Erica's private cook-a-long virtual class, a bunch of stunning dried flowers by The Garden Shop, Cocoa Atelier chocolates, a bottle of prosecco and a Mother's Day card which you can include a personalised message inside. But if you're lucky enough to be in isolation with your mum, there's an option to order just one box to share at the price of €89. What's more, the boxes are available for delivery nationwide for a small cost and are available to order now. If Weekl.ie's previous Valentine's Day meal kit was anything to go by, you're going to want to act fast as they sold out in record time. Boxes will be delivered before Sunday, March 14 (that's Mother's Day, FYI).

At 11 am on Mother's Day, Erica will take to the private event for a live 45-minute cook-a-long. During this time, Erica will take you through what's inside the box and demonstrate how to assemble the dish. Then, Kate McLoughlin from McLoughlin’s Craft Butchers will join the call to share a bit on the story of the Blackstairs Lamb inside the box. Following Kate's chat, Sarah Merrigan of Sarah&Olive will join in on the activities with the background and tasting notes of ‘Finca la Torre’ 100 point Extra Virgin Olive Oil which can be added to the Mother's Day Gift Box in favour of prosecco.

So while we would all much rather be spending Mother’s Day gathering our families around a table heaving with Sunday lunch, this really is the next best thing. To order or for more information, see weekl.ie
