The world's first margarita Margherita pizza has just landed in Dublin

Would you try it?

Those that love tequila and pizza can now order a dinner that combines both with the launch of the Margarita Margherita pizza.

Some culinary terms can be quite the point of confusion for a lot of people. I didn't really understand the difference between macarons and macaroons until one day I was following a recipe for macaroons and ended up with two halves of delicate airy biscuits with a layer of filling in between instead of ambiguously shaped dollops of coconut-flavoured biscuits. A similar confusion surrounds the words margarita and Margherita. They might sound like they come from the same food family – but one has alcohol and the other has cheese. Or at least that was the case, until now...

The world's oldest tequila brand, Jose Cuervo, have invented the 'world's first tequila infused' pizza. The idea was inspired by World Margarita Day which takes place this Monday, February 22. The team behind Jose Cuervo have worked alongside food economists to develop the boozy pizza that combines the ingredients of the classic Margherita pizza with those of a Margarita cocktail.

Aptly named the Margarita Margherita pizza, the unique creation features pizza dough fermented in Jose Cuervo tequila for over 24-hours as well as a tomato sauce marinated in triple sec, salt, garlic and Jose Cuervo tequila. It is then topped with buffalo mozzarella, fresh basil leaves, grated parmesan and is finished with a garnish of sea salt and fresh lime.

Intrigued? Us too. Luckily for those living in Dublin, you'll be able to try a slice this Monday, February 22 - just in time for World Margarita Day! Jose Cuervo has joined forces with vendors and restaurants across Dublin to freshly make and deliver the Margarita Margherita pizza directly to you. The Margarita Margherita pizza costs just €10 and orders can be made now by visiting josecuervoirl.myshopify.com.

What's more, every purchase of the €10 pizza will come with a complimentary special edition pizza-inspired Margarita cocktail that combines the traditional sweet and savoury flavours of a Margarita cocktail with toppings found in a Margherita pizza. The new cocktail contains fresh lemon juice, basil, fresh tomatoes and tequila. Finished off with a garnish of cherry tomatoes and a mozzarella ball on a skewer with basil leaves. Delicious!

Jose Cuervo Margarita Margherita pizza will be available to collect from The Halfway House in Walkinstown for customers local to the venue. Safe, socially distanced delivery is available to customers in Dublin 12, Dublin 6W, Dublin 6, Dublin 8 and Dublin 14.

Priced at €10, the pizza and cocktail is available for pre-order now with delivery on Monday, February 22.
