Co Waterford's Blackwater Gin is the official beverage partner for this year's Virgin Media Dublin International Film Festival.
In honour of the festival, which runs until 8th March, it has created two special cocktails - and the Blackwater team has given us a recipe you can try at home too.
For the duration of the festival, film fans can try the cocktails (at €12 each) in Café en Seine on Dawson Street and Nolita on George’s Street. The Volta is a homage to Ireland’s oldest cinema and is made with Blackwater’s Wexford Strawberry Gin. It's a smooth mix of a classic clover club and a milk punch.
The Old Chauncey is named after the actor Chauncey Olcott. It's made with Blackwater No. 5 Gin and is reminiscent of a classic Bees Knees (gin, lemon and honey) with a hint of Old Fashioned.
One to try:
- 50ml Blackwater No5 Gin
- 30ml lemon juice
- Two spoons of good raspberry jam or raspberry liqueur
- 1 egg white
1. Combine all ingredients in an ice-filled shaker
2. Shake vigorously until well frosted.
3. Double strain into a chilled-cocktail glass and garnish with raspberries
4. Serve immediately
