The World’s 50 Best Bars 2019 Awards took place this week at Roundhouse in Camden, London, and unveiled the names of the lucky winners of the year.
Taking the crown home this year is Dante, an Italian-style aperitivo bar in New York which was awarded The World’s Best Bar Award, sponsored by Perrier. Going up eight places, the Greenwich Village bar which first opened its doors in 1915, was praised for serving the best Negronis in town and for its relaxed and inviting atmosphere, reflective of an increasing trend in the industry towards casualisation. Owned by Nathalie Hudson and Linden Pride, with creative direction from Australian Naren Young, Dante serves coffee and cocktails, as well as high-quality food. An international drinks destination, it’s also a buzzing neighbourhood bar with a unique vibe.

This is an industry of dreamers, artists and artisans. We truly feel so grateful to be surrounded by these people and be able to call them our peers. Those who have chosen to pursue their passion, and their dreams, over all else. Ironically it’s called the hospitality industry, but for those that live it, it often feels anything but hospitable. It’s hard work. But it’s these amazing staff, their stories, their passion, that inspires us to continue to grow, and be better every day. Whether you’ve only visited Dante once, or you have worked with us from the beginning, we’re all family. Thank you for believing in our dream, and joining us on this wild journey. What a night. What a hangover. We are so grateful for this recognition ❤️ @50bestbars

We had an amazing time working with Eu Yan Sang in exploration of some traditional Chinese herbs and spices. There are so many different unique flavours that have been used since ancient times. We chose some ingredients such as Cloves, Hawthorne Berry and Schisandra chinensis (known as the five-flavour berry). We made a Clove Gin paired with a Five Flavour Berry Kombucha. The remains of the five flavour berry is blended with Hawthorne berries to create a fruit leather similar to the ones we used to have as kids over here in Singapore. Looking forwards to expanding and extending our knowledge of these interesting ingredients with Eu Yan Sang! @davejony #euyansang #everydaybotanica #sp #tcm #fiveflavours #kombucha #gin
