Irish makers and producers take note: the Grow with Aldi supplier development programme is back this month.
Now in its fourth year the initiative, which gives brands the chance to be stocked in all 145 Aldi Ireland stores, was developed in partnership with Bord Bia. Its aim is to help small and medium producers gain valuable experience and exposure for their products. Over 500 Irish suppliers have entered Grow with Aldi since its inception and Aldi has invested €3million in the initiative.
This year, up to 60 products will be selected from those entered as part of a Specialbuys event on 6 June and six products will then go on to become a core range listing in Aldi stores nationwide. Participants also receive tailored mentoring and workshops with the Aldi buying and marketing teams and Bord Bia technical experts.
Funky Monkey Foods was a Grow with Aldi 2019 winner and the brand’s Deborah Crowley has described it as “the opportunity of a lifetime”. She said, ”Without the programme, Funky Monkey Foods would not be what it is today. Due to the support mentoring and exposure we received we have grown and expanded dramatically. This has given us the opportunity to work on new products to add to our range, grow and create local jobs.”
Speaking about the programme John Curtin, Aldi Ireland Group Buying Director, said: “The first three years of the programme were very successful for everyone involved… During Covid-19, we were also in a position to help even more small Irish suppliers listing on our shelves as part of the Grow with Aldi programme, so we know that the quality of food and drink produced in Ireland is outstanding.”
This year, the Grow with Aldi focus is on sustainability and for the first time, it's opened to non-food-related Irish products too!
