There's a hint of brighter days ahead in this week's round up of food and drinks news, with cocktails and barbecues bringing thoughts of sunny afternoons.
Fairtrade Fortnight kicks off next week too and Aldi is just one retailer stepping up to support the initiative. Plus one of Dublin's top hotels has expanded its at-home offering. Five-star cocktails to your door, anyone?

Bringing it home
Ellie Kisyombe, End Direct Provision Activist and founder of non-profit social enterprise Our Table, has launched her own range of sauces. Ellie's Kitchen Home Edition, which was heavily influenced by Ellie’s African heritage, comprises Smokey Lemon Hot Sauce and Mild Lemon & Herb Hot Sauce, (€6/250ml each), and Extra Extra Hot Chilli Sauce (€5.50/100ml) as well as two pasta sauces (from €4.49/375ml each), with delivery extra. You can get them online at ellieskitchenhomeedition.com and the range will soon be available in independent food stores nationwide.
The Shelbourne to your door
Following its recently-launched afternoon tea at home, The Shelbourne Hotel in Dublin has expanded its offering. Executive Chef Garry Hughes’ famed beef Wellington is now available (priced at €70 to serve two) and you can enjoy the Shelbourne Signature cocktails at home too. We like the sound of the new Cocktail and Nibbles Box (€60) which includes two bottles of cocktails, rosemary and Camargue sea salt cashew nuts, smoked almonds and olives. Grill and go
The days are feeling a little longer (in a good way) so thoughts of sunny days and outdoor dining aren’t too far away. Perfect timing then, as barbecue pro Weber has just expanded its Genesis and Spirit gas barbecue lines. Plus, the arrival of a portable barbecue is very good news as we face a staycation summer. The slim Weber Traveler (€471.45) gas grill folds up, making it good for small outdoor space – or for bringing with you on camping or picnic trips. It will be available from weber.com and selected retail partners from mid-March.
