The Love Italian Life 2018 Awards will take place tomorrow evening in The Lighthouse Cinema. Over 20 awards will be presented including the Best Contemporary Italian Restaurant, for individual regions across Italy, The Best Italian Chef in Europe and the Italian Lifetime Achievement Award.
The evening will be hosted by TV presenter Síle Seoige and guests on the evening will be treated to contemporary Italian gastronomic treats including a unique aperitivo created by some of the most innovative Italian chefs in Europe.
Gathering in Dublin for the event will be some of the A list of the Italian restaurant industry including Italian chefs: Lorenzo Cogo, El Coq (Veneto) – the youngest Michelin-starred chef/owner in Italy; Moreno Cedroni of two Michelin-starred restaurant Madonnina del pescatore (Marche); Heinrich Schneider from two Michelin-starred Terra - The Magic Place (Trentino-Alto Adige) an Daniele Usai of Il Tino which holds one Michelin Star and was protégé chef to Antonio Carluccio in London.
Italian chefs and restaurants from UK and Ireland will be there too in the hope of winning some awards. Two key awards on the night are:
The Best Contemporary Restaurant in Italy 2018, sponsored by Mionetto. All 26 nominated restaurants in Italy including 3, 2, 1 Michelin Star locations can be seen here.
The Best Authentic Italian Restaurant in Dublin 2018, sponsored by Little Italy. Finalists include: Da Mimmo, I Monelli, Manifesto, Pinocchio and Rosa Madre.
However, today at the Miele Ireland kitchen showroom in CityWest, a number of Michelin-starred chefs from Italy were competing with top Italian chefs in Dublin and London in a Masterchef-style contest to win the following two awards below, which will be announced at the ceremony: The Best Contemporary Italian Dish 2018, sponsored by Peroni and The Best Contemporary Italian Wine & Food Pairing 2018, sponsored by Miele.
The competing chefs in Dublin today were: Daniele Usai (Ristorante Il Tino, Rome) Gaetano Trovato (Arnolfo, Tuscany), Daniele Usai (Il Tino, Lazio), Lucio Paduano (Manifesto, Dublin) and Matteo Riganelli (Macellaio RC, London). More details the pre-ceremony events can be found here.
