For the 19th day of our F&W advent calendar, we have a Christmas memory from Kevin Dundon for you to enjoy, plus three of his superb Christmas recipes!
As a celebrity chef, cookbook author and TV personality, Kevin is a familiar face in the Irish food scene. Dunbrody House Hotel is well-known for its luxurious surroundings and delicious food, while the Dunbrody Cookery School is the perfect spot for budding cooks to hone their skills.
Here, Kevin tell us his favourite Christmas memory, which is taken from his childhood:
"My grandfather always claimed that there was money in the Christmas pudding, but that you had to eat it in order to find the cash. However, the only person to ever find the money was my grandfather, who we called Pa. I think he tricked us by keeping the money in his pocket and then putting it in his napkin! All the grandchildren got a coin every Christmas by eating the pudding and now love Christmas Pudding!"
Kevin has kindly shared three Christmas recipes with us for you to try out: First up is a delicious seasonal starter of Cauliflower and Blue Cheese Soup, followed by the perfect Whole Glazed Ham on the Bone. For dessert, Kevin has given us his recipe for a Classic Christmas Trifle, which is sure to please all of your guests this year.
"This is a classic combination of flavours. This is quite a filling soup recipe so a little goes a long way. For a varied flavour why not try adding in a little curry powder when cooking the soup for a mild curried alternative."
This recipe from Kevin is both easy to make and delicious, so it's perfect for this year's Christmas dinner!
"Sherry trifle is one of those desserts that has been around forever and will never fade away."
This recipe is the perfect crowd-pleaser, making sure everyone at your table this year is happy.
Happy Christmas from Kevin Dundon! Find out recipes from Kevin at his website.
