The 2018 Irish Pub Awards were held this week and a pub in County Louth took home the top prize, with a host of other Irish pubs also receiving accolades across a number of categories.

It was to be a great night and year for The Glyde Inn, Co. Louth as they won not one, but two awards at this year's prestigious event. They were named 'Irish Pub of the Year', but also proudly honoured with the 'Best Food Pub of the Year' accolade.

According to organizers of the Irish Pub Awards, the best Irish pubs tick the boxes for all of the following: innovation, creativity, ambiance, operational excellence, and customer service. The categories that they look for when judging the competition. The awards are open to all members of the VFI (Vintners Federation of Ireland) and LVA (Licensed Vintners Association). The standards are high across the country and the pub culture is alive and well, and some would say thriving.
