Even though we're all practising physical distancing and most of us are working from home, we still want to help support Irish food and drink producers.
We've decided to help our readers #ShopForIreland, so we'll be posting every day to highlight great food and drink businesses around the country. Get in touch on our social channels with your suggestions on who we should write about.
Asador and Prado at home, delivery and collection in Dublin
Itching to get the barbecue out? Itch no more, because the people behind Asador and Prado, the Dublin restaurants which specialise in cooking over fire, have launched barbecue boxes that can be delivered to your door. There are two to choose from: the BBQ Box for €49 and the Deluxe Box for €75. Both include chicken wings, four burgers with buns and toppings, eight sausages, tabbouleh salad, potato salad, corn on the cob, garlic butter, chimichurri and a blue cheese dip. The Deluxe Box also includes two dry-aged ribeye steaks and a rack of barbecue ribs. Clear, easy to understand cooking instructions are also provided, and boxes can be delivered to any address in the greater Dublin area on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Order before 2pm for next day delivery or – if you live close enough – collect your box from Asador on Haddington Road on Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 10am to 4pm, and Sunday from 9am to 2pm. Order at www.asador.ie.
Greenacres Wines, delivery nationwide
You’ve got to love a wine shop that taps into the national mood by putting a guide to what to drink with takeaway food on its website. Hat tip, then, to Greenacres in Wexford, for recommending things like Gavi with a Parma ham and rocket pizza, and Merlot with mild chicken wings. You can read the piece here, then browse the online wine shop to pick the perfect bottle.
Montys, Temple Bar, Dublin
