New ways to #shopforireland

From fresh produce to ready-to-eat Thai food, right to your door.

SHARE

Even though we're all still practicing social distancing and most of us are working from home, we still want to help support Irish food and drink producers.

We've decided to help our readers #ShopForIreland, so we'll be posting every day to highlight producers around the country. Get in touch on our social channels with your suggestions on who we should write about.

Sprout, Dublin

Jack and Theo Kirwan, the brothers behind the healthy food company Sprout, have launched a food box delivery service, and as you’d expect it’s packed with fresh produce.

Priced at €35, it includes two varieties of organic greens produced on the Kirwan’s own farm, as well as organic potatoes, courgettes, fennel, carrots, cauliflower, spring onions, broccoli and mushrooms.

Also included are Compsey yoghurt, a ‘Free From Everything’ granola, pesto made with kale from the farm, French dressing and Nurney organic eggs. Customers can also add in sourdough bread from Le Levain and coffee from Roasted Ground for an extra fee. A smaller, veg-only box is available for €25, with a larger box also available for €50.

There are two options for customers – pre-order for collection at Sprout Baggot Street through the website or app, or have your box delivered within a six kilometre radius of Baggot Street via Deliveroo.

The Chicken Inn, Cork city

Based in the English Market, The Chicken Inn has been serving the people of Cork city since 1955. But like all food businesses, it is having to adapt to survive, and it’s doing so with a home delivery service throughout the city.

Tim Mulcahy of the Chicken Inn says the response, both from existing and new customers, has been encouraging. You can find details of what’s on offer on the Inn’s Facebook page.

Saba, Dublin

If you’ve been missing your fix of Thai food from Saba in Dublin, you’ll be delighted to hear that both Saba Baggot Street and Saba To Go Rathmines will be open for deliveries today, tomorrow and Sunday from 4pm until 10pm.

The menu will be smaller than usual to allow for social distancing, and you can order at sabatogo.com or on Deliveroo. Keep an eye on Saba’s social channels for next week’s opening hours.
