Big Night: Yvonne Donohue of The Shelbourne Dublin

Where will you eat when everything goes back to normal?

SHARE

At some point, our world will return to normal - even if it is a new normal. But where will we go for our first night out?

We asked some well-known names in the Irish food and drinks industry to tell us what they're planning when restrictions are lifted. Today, we spoke to Yvonne Donohoe is director of sales and marketing at The Shelbourne Dublin:

"The Dublin food scene has developed and improved so much in recent years, but when Allta arrived in late 2019 it was definitely something very unique for the city. I had the pleasure of visiting Allta on several occasions with family and friends and I am truly missing it during these times. They have nailed that magic combination of great food and a super atmosphere, which makes for a wonderful night out.

I have so many favourite dishes, from the simplest ones like the Øland bread with shiitake miso butter to the incredible spider crab bigoli. I'll be making a beeline for Allta as soon as I'm allowed to enjoy those dishes with a glass of Chateua Musar, a lovely Lebanese red wine, in hand.

I also love that all the ingredients being used are Irish. Niall Davidson and his team are extremely talented and have created amazing food that leaves you wanting more. The interiors, lighting, sound and music are all really well thought out and executed too.

When I do get back there, one thing is for sure - I'll be ordering an extra portion of the nitro milk ice cream. It’s now my favourite dessert of all time."

Allta is selling at-home boxes through its website - but you'll have to be quick to get your hands on one!
