Big Night: Natalie McCambridge of McCambridge's in Galway

Where will you eat when everything goes back to normal?

At some point, our world will return to normal - even if it is a new normal. But where will we go for our first night out?

We asked some well-known names in the Irish food and drinks industry to tell us what they're planning when restrictions are lifted. Today, we spoke to Natalie McCambridge, co-owner McCambridge's food store and café in Galway city centre

"There are two restaurants in Galway that I look forward to visiting whenever I can, so they will be top of my list for the first big night out.

My son Marcus and I were regulars at Hooked on Henry Street for ages and we eat with this great company even more now that they also have a branch in Barna west of the city. We sit and chat about the week gone by over mussels, calamari and the best fish dishes in Galway, followed by the sinful but delicious churros.

I miss Hooked and I miss our weekly mother and son open, honest and heartfelt chats. And the churros, well they're so good I have to mention them twice!

Secondly, I can't wait for a long, meandering evening with 'the women' in Ard Bia. This delicious, fresh, uplifting is served in what has got to be the prettiest – but not in any way precious – restaurant in Galway. The food is always elegant but wholesome, the staff efficient but not intrusive (unless you want them to be!), the wines matching perfectly and the setting is just gorgeous. Many a fun evening I have had there and many more will be had in the future."
