At some point, our world will return to normal - even if it is a new normal. But where will we go for our first night out?
We asked some well-known names in the Irish food and drinks industry to tell us what they're planning when restrictions are lifted. Today, we spoke to Darren Darcy, manager at Volpe Nera in Blackrock, Dublin:
"My partner Virginia and I both work front of house in the restaurant business and dining out is one of our primary pastimes, so it is one of the things that we miss most. There are restaurants that we regularly like to go to, like Host in Ranelagh, China Sichuan in Sandyford and One Pico in Dublin city centre to name a few.
We also like to try out new places to keep up to date with what’s happening in the Dublin restaurant scene. One restaurant we particularly enjoyed, which opened relatively recently, was Allta.

But for our first night out, I would like to mark the occasion by going to our favourite Dublin restaurant, The Greenhouse. There have been a few celebratory occasions which have taken place within the last month that we haven’t had a chance to officially mark, and as it will be our first night out in quite a while, I couldn’t think of somewhere more special to celebrate. While there we would put ourselves in the team’s expert hands, and go for the tasting menu with the wine pairing option."
Volpe Nera is currently selling at home boxes, but you'll have to be quick to get your hands on one. Click here for more info.
