Its name has become synonymous with great Asian ingredients and food in Ireland and Asia Market has long been a firm favourite with anyone who loves Asian cuisine.
This family-run business was established in 1981 and is marking its 40th birthday this year. There are now two retail outlets in Dublin (Drury Street, Dublin 2 and Ballymount, Dublin 12), asiamarket.ie, a popular online store and Duck restaurant, which serves HK style BBQ.
Over the years Asia Market has become a go-to for all types of Asian ingredients including fresh, ambient and frozen. It also offers a large range of authentic Asian food brands from all over Asia including products from China, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Korea, the Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, Taiwan and India. There is also an array of Asian-style homewares including plates and bowls, chopsticks, woks, bento boxes and bamboo steamers.
Asia Market works with a number of local Irish farmers, who have been growing an assorted range of Asian vegetables for many years. There are daily deliveries from Irish producers of fresh tofu, Chinese bakery goods, chilli oils and condiments.
Cause for celebration
The Mid-Autumn Festival, which is the second largest Asian celebration, takes place on 21 September. Decorative mooncakes are made and eaten specifically for this occasion and they’re currently available from Asia Market for a limited time only. Or if you’d like to try making your own, there’s a recipe on asiamarket.ie.
