Christmas At Powerscourt Townhouse Centre, Dublin
Father Christmas has taken up residence in this much-loved spot in the heart of Dublin, with a workshop full of trinkets and magic (you can book tickets to visit him here) But that’s not all that’s on offer in the run-up to Christmas - Powerscourt will be hosting a series of events including the annual Simon House of Light festival in aid of Dublin Simon Community, running from 5 - 7 December in the centre.
Urban Brewing's 12 Beers of Christmas
Urban Brewing in Dublin's Docklands is showcasing a dozen beers in honour of the festive season. Each week, the spotlight will be on two beers including new limited edition festive brews. Highlights include Urban Brewing Bierre De Noel (a spiced Belgian style beer with cloves cinnamon and dried fruit notes) and O’Hara’s Winter Star (a spiced amber ale with cinnamon, orange zest and coconut). Port House Wine Tours for 2020
The Port House has teamed up with Capture Travel to offer wine tours in 2020, giving customers the chance to experience first hand some of the suppliers that work with the restaurant group. The first tour is in March 2020 and will bring customers to Catalonia to explore the Torres and Cava vineyards. A second trip heads to Porto at the end of April and focuses on tapas and, of course, port. Tickets start at €1,190 and include flights, accommodation, coach transfers and activities including vineyard visits, tours, lunches and tourist attractions. Tickets are available here.
Massimo's Winter Wonderland in Galway
Massimo in Galway has had a festive makeover. Artist and creative director Pete Casby was behind its transformation into Scandinavian lodge, with wood-log fire, gingerbread house and upcycled trees. The menu has a Christmassy feel too, with Terry’s Irish Coffee (made with orange liqueur, chocolate and cream), and Hot Pink Gin (Beefeater Pink gin, rosehip tea, lemon and honey) just two of the new drinks on offer as well as a new Massimo Winter Wonderland themed cocktail list. There will be a host of events running too, including a table scaping class led by events planner Maria Reidy on 17 December.
