If you love gin and tonic, then you need to get to the Celtic Ross Hotel in west Cork this March.
The Celtic Ross Hotel in Rosscarbery, west Cork is set to play host to award-winning cocktail expert Scott Gemmell – known for his appearances on Come Dine With Me, the Hairy Bikers' programmes and the BBC Good Food Show – this March for a unique foraging and drinks masterclass weekend.
The weekend will consist of a masterclass with Scott, showcasing the innovative cocktails he has created with the team at the Celtic Ross, as well as afternoon tea. Each drink has been made with local spirits and is paired with locally foraged fruit, herbs, citrus and garnishes from the west Cork landscape.
The new cocktails will also act as a preview for the 2020 Celtic Ross menus, as Scott has worked with manager Neil Grant, as well as the hotel's chefs and bartenders, to ensure that the cocktails reflect what the team has in store for this year. The new Foraged Gin & Tonic menu will be available at the hotel throughout the year.
Speaking about the collaboration, Neil commented, "We are very excited about this unique masterclass for our guests, it is also a way of fostering his expertise with our team whilst celebrating the launch of our new Foraged Gin & Tonic menu at the same time."
Commenting on the upcoming weekend in west Cork, Scott told us that he is also excited about the venture, "The whole region is a basket of delights, unlike any other place I have ever been. It offers such a diverse and unique pool of coastal flavours. Neil and his hotel team are just incredible at the Celtic Ross, so we couldn’t let these ideas go and decided to try something completely new that would help connect the local landscape, alongside the food and drinks offering over spring and summer months. What you will be tasting in March will be the result of 4 months worth of planning, research and work in my drinks lab and also onsite in West Cork too over this period.
