The Oak Room at Adare Manor in County Limerick was named Best Hotel Restaurant at the 2019 FOOD AND WINE Awards in association with Rémy Martin.
Unequivocably luxurious, The Oak Room at Adare Manor focuses on serving up the very best local, seasonal produce. Helmed by chef Mike Tweedie, the team at The Oak Room are led by the seasons when creating their menus, highlighting Irish food and our skilled native producers.
Before opening the restaurant, Mike and his team undertook a road trip around Ireland in order to familiarise themselves with our cuisine. By meeting the country producers and trying their wares, Mike's menus have been inspired by the best of the best.
The restaurant is absolutely stunning, with wood-panelled walls and fabulous views of the hotel's gardens and golf course, which will play host to the Ryder Cup in 2026. The impeccably trained staff treat each guest so well that even those that have never visited will feel like they are being welcomed home. Head of Wine Jurica Gojevic's drinks list ensures that there is something available for everyone, while Restaurant Manager Liam Simpson offers a tableside cheese service. Combined with Mike's incredible food, these special touches ensure that guests can indulge in a truly special dining experience when they visit.
To find out more about this incredible win, we caught up with head chef Mike Tweedie after the awards. Speaking to us about the title, he said, "It’s always a good feeling to be recognised in our line of work with awards like this. There so many great places to eat in this country, so it's a great time to be a chef in Ireland right now. This award is good for the team, they're the ones on the stove cooking every day, doing mise en place, setting the restaurant up for dinner or researching new Irish cheese for our cheese trolley and looking after guests. They all put in 100 per cent effort every day and work so hard to be better than the day before. It’s nice for them to see the rewards of all the hard work that they all put in every day.
