Takashi Miyazaki, owner of Miyazaki and Michelin-starred Ichigo Ichie in Cork, took home two big prizes at the 2019 FOOD AND WINE Awards, in association with Rémy Martin.

One of Ireland's newest Michelin-starred restaurants, Ichigo Ichie in Cork, was awarded Best Restaurant Munster at the 2019 FOOD AND WINE Awards in association with Rémy Martin. The restaurant was also commended in the Best Restaurant Ireland category, meaning that our judges really think that this Japanese restaurant is worth a visit. On top of these two awards, chef proprietor at Ichigo Ichie Takashi Miyazaki was awarded Best Chef Munster, highlighting how much of an impact his amazing food has made.

Ichigo Ichie is Ireland's first kappou-style and kaiseki restaurant. Serving elaborately prepared, seasonal Japanese dishes, Ichigo Ichie has wowed all who have visited, and the Michelin inspectors were no exception as the restaurant received its first Michelin star on Monday at the Michelin Guide GB & Ireland 2019 announcement ceremony in the BFI IMAX, London.

Ichigo Ichie in Cork City, which is Ireland's first kappou-style and kaiseki restaurant, has been gaining rave reviews since it opened. Serving elaborately prepared, seasonal Japanese dishes, Ichigo Ichie has wowed all who have visited, and the Michelin inspectors were no exception as the restaurant received its first Michelin star in 2018 at the Michelin Guide GB & Ireland 2019 announcement ceremony in the BFI IMAX, London.

If you haven't managed to make it to Cork to visit Ichigo Ichie, then you need to keep an eye on Takashi's enticing Instagram feed, as the photos highlight the restaurant's beautiful food, showing that every dish created by this master chef looks as good as it tastes.

Takashi himself has been lauded as one of the country's best chefs. Since opening Miyazaki, his casual eatery, Takashi has been highlighting Japanese food with an Irish twist, an ethos he has continued to elevate since opening Ichigo Ichie. While Takashi wasn't able to make the awards this year, we had a chat with him to get his reaction to these new titles.

"I am very honoured to have won such nice awards. This award shows what great support we have from our guests and a great team effort on behalf of the staff. Over the next year, I will continue to use great Irish produce while using traditional Japanese techniques."
