Newly opened Allta is set to host a wine dinner next month with chef Kevin Burke in aid of the New South Wales Fire Brigade fighting the devastating bushfires in Australia.
Allta, which opened on South Frederick Street late last year, has announced that the first of its new series of wine-led dinners will be curated by chef Kevin Burke, who recently returned to Dublin after his three year stint as head chef of Michelin-starred The Ninth in London.
The profits of this first dinner will go to the New South Wales Fire Brigade, which has been fighting Australia's devastating bush fires over the past few months. The Australian bushfires have been raging since November, taking the lives of 28 people and an estimated half a billion animals, including possibly a third of the koala population.
The first wine dinner
Kevin has joined Niall Davidson in Allta's kitchen to create a ten-course menu inspired by the food he loves and the techniques that he has learned over the course of his culinary journey. Expect to see dishes like porchetta di testa, goat agnolotti and espresso Paris Brest with malt ice cream on the menu.
Kevin Burke, Allta's sommelier, has teamed up with Le Caveau wines to shine a light on some of Australia's best wines, including Gareth Belton’s Gentle Folk Wines and small-batch, biodynamic wines by Patrick Sullivan.
This event will take place on Tuesday, January 28th 2020. Tickets go on sale tomorrow, January 18th and cost €55 per person. Wines can be ordered by the glass, bottle or paired with the menu on the evening. Bookings will go live tomorrow, Saturday, January 18th at the same time as Allta releases its bookings for February 2020.
