Discover The World Of Gérard Bertrand

A step into the French art de vivre.

Wine maker in Languedoc-Roussillon in the South of France, Gérard Bertrand has been defending the wealth of his land with passion and enthusiasm for over 30 years.

Owner of 15 estates with exemplary profiles, Gérard Bertrand is the ambassador of fine wines of Languedoc-Roussillon around the world, tirelessly promoting the enchanting terroir located between the ancient Roman city of Narbonne and the Mediterranean Sea.

From the rugby pitches to the vineyards of South of France, the life of Gérard Bertrand is a quite unique success story. A superstar rugby player, he first joined in a wine harvest and discovered his passion for wine in 1975, in the Villemajou Estate in Corbières. He went on to learn more about wine for twelve years alongside his father, Georges Bertrand.

Driven by values such as performance and excellence honed on the rugby pitch, Gérard Bertrand continued his quest to bring out the best in terroirs from his region and promote them worldwide.

After the death of his father in 1987, he decided to take on the running of the family's Villemajou Estate. Five years later, he created the Gérard Bertrand wine company to develop a range of products from the South of France. The Cigalus Estate, Château Laville Bertrou and the Aigle Estate joined his portfolio over the following years.

The acquisition in 2002 of Château l’Hospitalet, in the La Clape natural park, gave Gérard Bertrand a whole new dimension. Since then, new treasures from the finest terroirs of the Languedoc region have expanded the vision and diversity of Gérard Bertrand wines: Château la Sauvageonne, Château la Soujeole, Clos d’Ora, or the famous Clos du Temple.

With his vineyards located on the finest terroirs of the Languedoc, Gérard Bertrand offers the full range and diversity of wines from the region - red, white, rose, varietal, appellation, estate, still, sparkling, and dessert. Committed to producing quality wines of great value, Gérard is hands on in every facet which bears his name… and has been fortunate to receive great accolades reinforcing his dedication.
