Brooklodge

Brooklodge

Any hopeless (and hopeful) romantics out there need to check out these date night dinners immediately.

As we come into the summer months, date nights get more adventurous. Evenings of Netflix and a takeaway in front of the fire are replaced by romantic strolls, pub garden drinks and if you're lucky, maybe even alfresco dining. Restaurants can hold treasured memories for couples and creating the right ambience and setting can be as important as getting the food right.

From Tinder matches to long-term loves, these date spots might just ignite a spark. All we ask is for a FOOD&WINE shout-out in any resulting wedding speeches.

Gregans Castle, Co Clare

This luxury retreat is nestled between the Burren and the Wild Atlantic Way. Between the manicured gardens and spectacular views, we can't imagine a more romantic getaway. The Dining Room restaurant serves up fresh, local produce and imaginative dishes, headed by chef Robbie McCauley.

The Strawberry Tree, Brooklodge, Co Wicklow

The Strawberry Tree is Ireland's first certified organic restaurant. Choose from a five or nine course dining menu, made with produce foraged and prepared by the kitchen or cured in Brooklodge's very own smokehouse. May we recommend the Big Table experience, which is about as close to a medieval banquet that we can imagine. Diners sit together at a long table and serve themselves and each other from the veritable feast laid out on the table.

1826 Adare, Co Limerick

Husband and wife team, Wade and Elaine Murphy, set up 1826 Adare after many years in the food and hospitalities industries. The rustic and picturesque setting coupled with seasonal produce and monthly changing menus, make this an unmissable stop for anyone in or passing through Adare.
