Cork’s cocktail emporium Cask has taken the top prize at the Bar of the Year awards for a second time.
The renowned industry awards, organised by Licensing World magazine, took place in Dublin’s Clayton Hotel Burlington Road, with many big names from the drinks industry in attendance.
Cask opened just a few years ago, in 2017, on Cork’s MacCurtain Street and has been scooping up awards ever since. It also won Cocktail Bar of the Year, for the third year running at the Bar of the Year awards and Andy Ferreira took home the Bar Manager of the Year award on the night too.
Speaking about the win, Andy said, “We’re absolutely thrilled to have won the title of Bar of the Year for the second year running. The energy and vibrancy of the Irish hospitality industry at the moment is just unbelievable, and we’re delighted to be recognised within this industry and to fly the flag for Cork.”
Cask bases its cocktails around the wild ingredients that grow in Ireland and the bar is now on its tenth cocktail menu. The team is always innovating and creating new offerings. “We’re incredibly passionate about what we do and winning these awards is reward for a lot of hard work,” Andy notes.
The awards in 2019 may not stop now, as head bartender Linda O’Flynn will also be representing Ireland in the Diageo World Class Global Final 2019 in Glasgow in September.
