Nadiya Hussain, who won the Great British Bake Off in 2015, has launched a new range of homeware products into Kilkenny shops around the country.
Nadiya rose to national prominence in the UK and Ireland after her journey on the Great British Bake Off (GBBO) where she dealt with an anxiety disorder through her inventive bakes, ultimately winning the competition. Such is Hussain’s popularity, that she has been asked to bake for Queen Elizabeth II, Disney film premieres and have presented several cookery and travel shows.

Nadiya’s new homeware range, which is available in Kilkenny shops around the country and online, was inspired by her Bangaldeshi roots. The range includes a signature Talipot palm leaf, in honour of her grandfather who planted one in his garden in Bangladesh. Nadiya’s mother further inspired the range through her love of homeware:
“She could never bear to throw away a plate, they all had different patterns and designs, everything was mixed and matched. I hate serving food on plain white dishes, I like beautiful plates to display my food.”
As spices are so prominent in Nadiya’s savoury cooking, one of her favourite pieces in the range is a magnetic spice rack. This, she says, allows her to utilise a multitude of flavours in her cooking:
“To me, spices are a thing of beauty. They shouldn’t be hidden away. If they are on view in your kitchen it makes it so much easier to be adventurous with your cooking.”
As well as the spice rack, Nadiya’s new range includes candles, aprons, oven gloves, tea towels and a full range of tableware, all of which are available in a wide variety of gorgeous colours and styles.
