The popular Airfield Festival of Food & Zero Waste 2019 is back for a fourth year. It runs at Airfield Estate, Dundrum, Dublin 14 on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th of September - and entry is free.

Over 50 producers are taking part this year and, along with an artisan and street food village there will be a host of events, workshops and experts on everything from craft beers and bushcraft to sustainable living and mindfulness.

Highlights will include Green Earth Organics which delivers fresh fruit and vegetable boxes to homes across Ireland; plant based meals from Fiid; Latin American Apepas from La Tia Juana; pit-masters Cloonagh Smokin Soul and Feashty Vegan Kebabs. The Botanicals and Brews area, will feature craft concoctions from brewers at The Porterhouse; while Glendalough Distillery's their master forager Geraldine Kavanagh will be hosting a masterclass.

If you're keen to really get involved there are the Best in Show Competitions – Home-baked Brown Bread, Seasonal Preserves, Most Original Fairy Bun (under 12 years), and Most Nutritious Home-grown vegetable. Entries should be delivered to the ‘Ask About Airfield’ Stand before 11am each day and entries will be judged by Airfield Master Baker, Shane Smith and Head Gardener Colm O’Driscoll.

A series of talks, workshops and cookery demos on sustainable living and reducing food waste will also take place over the weekend. And, in keeping with the sustainability theme, food vendors will use only compostable or recyclable food containers - and festival goers are encouraged to bring their own lunch boxes and keep cups with them to help reduce waste.

There will also be live music, DJ sets, Pound Fitness and yoga and mindfulness, ensuring the festival has something for everyone.
