Premium Irish sea salt producer Achill Island Sea Salt has introduced a new smoked version to its multi-award-winning sea salt range.
We've always been big fans here at F&W of the original sea salt product so this is sure to become a favourite as well. The new product uses natural sea salt, hand-harvested from the grade A Atlantic waters that surround Achill Island in Co Mayo. It is produced by hot-smoking the Achill Island Sea Salt over oak and beech to create a subtle smoky aroma and flavour
The launch of the new Smoked Achill Island Sea Salt also coincides with the switch from plastic tubs to 75g glass jars for both the smoked and original varieties. Commenting on this decision, co-founder Marjorie O’Malley said: “Our raw material is the ocean and plastic is clogging up our oceans. We simply did not want our single-use plastic tub to contribute to this pollution so we decided to make a change. The new packaging gives a more premium feel to our products and the packaging is recyclable.”
