Did you know that less than half the number of skilled chefs required to sustain and develop the hospitality industry are being trained annually?
No, us neither. Luckily, The School of Food, a community led initiative in County Kilkenny, is launching a fully accredited cookery course for aspiring Commis Chefs, in association with Taste 4 Success Skillnet.
The programme is aimed at job-seekers looking to develop chef skills and secure employment. It will provide candidates with an in-depth introduction to the role of a Commis Chef and in turn will help to bridge the gap in the employment market.
The practical ‘Modern Skills for Modern Chefs’ Introduction Commis Chef Programme, begins Monday 26th February 2018. Candidates will be taught through a combination of kitchen based learning and work placements. It is funded by Taste 4 Success Skillnet and is offered free of charge to qualifying Job Seekers. Those who graduate will receive an Award in Food Industry Skills which is aligned with the QQI Level 4 Award.
